Musician of the Month – Britt Doehring
The San Diego music seen is amazing. On any given night, you can always find somewhere near you that has a local musician playing. Whether it be a Jazz Guitarist playing at your favorite restaurant, a Surf Rock Duo rocking the house at the bar down the street, or an amazing young vocalist, like Britt Doehring, performing at your local winery.
Britt Doehring has been to Orfila many times, but people just can't get enough of her. Every time she sings, people stop doing whatever it is they are doing, and sit, dumbfounded at this 20-year old's voice. Her style is a blend of sweet acoustic melodies and jazzy grooves. Her creativity is encouraged by other songwriters such as John Mayer, Colbie Caillat, and Eva Cassidy.
Britt has been singing since she could talk, belting out the words to “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” while her parents videotaped, knowing one day that she will be a star. She also learned to play the guitar at age 14, when her mom got one for her birthday, which Britt ended up stealing and calling her own (as daughters will do).
Britt has written over 40 songs, some of which can be found on her debut album, Emerge. She hopes to get her second album recorded soon and wants it to be more of an unplugged type sound compared to the full production sound of Emerge.
You can find Britt performing all around San Diego more and more as word gets out what an amazing talent we have in our city.
“I love to perform for people. It’s my absolute favorite feeling in the whole world to bring a smile to a face that was once frowning or bring a tear to someone’s eye. I believe that I was put on this earth to have God speak/sing through me and touch people’s hearts.”
You can catch Britt performing not once, but twice, this month at Orfila. First, on Sunday, December 23rd Britt will be bringing you a little Holiday joy by performing some of your Holiday favorites. Then on Friday, December 28th she will be back to perform some of her original songs as well as an array of the best cover songs you'll ever hear ( “Ave Maria”, A Capella, live, 'nuff said).
It's only a matter of time until you will have to pay big bucks and deal with 5,000+ screaming fans in a sold-out arena to see Britt perform live, so get out there and see her now!
