Many of you may already know this face but he is back in a new position and we are excited to see him thrive in this new role. Please help us welcome our new Cellar Master, Christian Ecker. He was so kind to sit down with us to tell us more about who he is and what he’s up to:
Us: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your history with Orfila.
Christian: My journey with Orfila has been an unexpected but awesome adventure. Starting as a security guard and work through every position Orfila has to offer. I have finally found my perfect spot here.
Us: What do you love most about being the Cellar master and where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Christian: What I love most about this job is that it’s not a job to me. I love what I get to come in and do every day even if it was for no pay – it’s a passion and a lifestyle (but don’t tell the bosses that). I get to ensure that everything going on year round from vine to wine is done with the best quality. I get to work with a phenomenal winemaker, Andrew, and help make his vision of Orfila wines come true. I know that everything we do together will be calculated but executed with artistic creativity. My goal in 5 years is to take my continuing experience here and head up north to be a head winemaker.
Us: How has it been working with Andrew?
Christian: Working with Andrew is the best experience I could ask for. We are constantly working together to talk about what we want to do to make Orfila wines the best they can be. His vast Knowledge and chill demeanor makes for an awesome work environment. Just based on what we have discussed. I am very excited for what’s to come for Orfila.
Us: What new and exciting things should we be on the lookout for?
Christian: Definitely be on the lookout for some new styles of wine coming from the upcoming 2021 crush. Creativity and developing some truly unique wines are the goal for this year
Us: Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that you probably shouldn’t tell us?
Christian: For those who don’t know I love to salsa dance. Whenever I am not at work you can usually find me dancing.
